“Immense pressure” is being felt by Alvechurch Parish Council over its stance on an application to build 25 homes on the site of Alvechurch Football Club’s ground at Lye Meadow.
The council objected formally to the plan because it contravenes the policies of the Alvechurch Parish Neighbourhood Plan and was also in the Green Belt.
Council chairman Marc Worrall told councillors: “There is immense pressure from the football club to relook at this.”
He added: “It is a difficult one for us because the football club is an important part of our parish, nevertheless, from a planning point of view it is difficult for us to consider anything other than our formal stance.”
