Alicia Stanford (centre) and her horses Treacle and Tuffy settle into their new Alvechurch paddock with the help of (from left) Melissa Crow, Mia and Jorga Broomhall and John Hall.
Village readers responded to Alicia’s plight after we reported that she had been asked to leave her paddock of 50 years because the landlord, St Laurence Church, was selling the land to raise money for repairs to its church tower.
The new paddock, in the centre of the village, was owned by Geoff Crow, who ran EJ Crowe butchers for many years. Geoff died a year ago after contracting Covid-19.
Alicia told The Village: “Geoff’s daughter Melissa came to our rescue and gave us a new home. Her dad would be so proud of her.”
Alicia also thanked all the other people who contacted her via The Village offering help.
