Dear Editor – Last October/November we had so many cooking apples I decided to put some in a tray at the roadside to see if anyone would help themselves.
What an experience it became! Goodness knows how many pounds of apples I kept putting into the tray but the “thank you” notes, the flowers, the knocks on the door and even Christmas cards – one addressed to “The Apple House” – made it so worthwhile doing.
We will ignore the one “bad apple” who walked off with the tray, and many thanks to all who made it such a great experience and roll on next autumn!
