A look back at what was happening around here in October 2009.

Our October 2009 cover carried a picture of a skull in the vault of Beoley church, said to have been stolen from the grave of William Shakespeare . . . we explored the mystery inside.

IN THE NEWS:
Bromsgrove District Council had agreed to support an initiative launched by Alvechurch mums to establish a permanent meeting place for village teenagers.

Elsewhere, an elderly customer had been left shaken after being threatened during a Saturday morning robbery at Lickey Post Office.

The Rev Rob Fieldson (on the right), vicar of St Andrew’s Barnt Green and St Michael’s Cofton Hackett, officiated at the wedding of a former parishioner – in the south of France. The marriage of Audrey, whose mother Wendy Mockridge (far left) lived in Cofton Hackett, to Peter Jacobsen, from Denmark, was held at the couple’s home near Avignon.
