Sarah Harris, of Primrose Hospice, receives the cheque from Joel Belshah, Joseph Vale and Brandon Lee

Three village schoolboys raised more than £1,000 for Primrose Hospice as part of a charity challenge.

Brandon Lee and Joseph Vale, of Alvechurch, and Joel Belshah, of Barnt Green, recently joined King Edwards Five Ways Grammar School and as part of their induction were set a challenge to raise money over the summer holidays for a charity of their choice.

The 11-year-olds chose Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove, which had cared for Brandon’s grandad, Derek Morris, a lifetime resident of Alvechurch, who died last August.

The boys ran Beetle Drives in Alvechurch and Barnt Green and visited many of the local businesses which were very generous in providing prizes for raffles. Across the two nights they raised £1,001.06.
