Inside were features on history, angling and quad biking, plus plenty of
“people pics”.

IN THE NEWS:
Alvechurch Parish Council had raised its precept in order to pay for an ambitious programme of village improvements.

Meanwhile, Tardebigge and Beoley’s village schools were relieved that they were no longer under threat of closure as part of a Redditch education review.

* Rail enthusiasts were thrilled to watch a Severn Valley locomotive haul a passenger train up the Lickey Incline – but one resident mistakenly thought the train was on fire and dialled 999, causing a fire engine and helicopter to go searching for a blaze.

* Hopwood youngster Joe Halligan was showing off his musical talent around the world. The 11-year-old was a member of the under-12s National Children’s Orchestra, having taken up the violin at the age of three, and had already played in America and Japan.
