Delta blues comes to Barnt Green

-

Martin

Martin Harley, a supremely talented roots and blues guitarist with a burgeoning global reputation, will be bringing his own blend of Mississippi Delta blues to the village area on Saturday May 27 when he performs in Barnt Green.

A slide guitar master and devotee to the music of yesteryear’s Mississippi Delta troubadours, Martin is described as “quite simply a great live act”.

His appearance at Barnt Green is part of his current tour which will see him appearing in Germany, the Netherlands and Canada as well as a number of venues across the UK.

Martin grew up in south-east England and learned to play slide guitar on a warped 12-string instrument while living in Australia.

He has released five albums to date, the last two being recorded in Texas and Nashville respectively. The current release, Live at Southern Ground, has already featured in the top ten of the Euro Americana charts.

Fans of folk, acoustic, jazz, blues, Americana and roots music are guaranteed an enjoyable evening at this much-anticipated event, which takes place at St Andrews Parish Centre, Sandhills Road, at 7.30pm.

This show will appeal to everyone looking for a night of high-quality, entertaining music with friends and family in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It is also suitable for children (10+).

The event is organised by Lickey Hills Community Theatre, a joint project between Cofton Hackett and Lickey & Blackwell Parish Councils in conjunction with the Shindig/Live and Local programme of professional live performances in community venues across Worcestershire.

Tickets priced at £10 (standard), £9 (over-60s) and £8 (under-16s) are available by telephoning 0121 447 7455 or 0121 445 2607 (Cofton Hackett) or 0121 445 2802 (Lickey & Blackwell).
