Cruising in the Adriatic

Blackwell travel counsellor Jane Ward arranges an informal cruise.

Our recent cruise holiday was the best ever and, once again, we have Jane Ward to thank, write Ron and Mary Brown of Bromsgrove.

Normally we have a good idea of what sort of holiday we want, but this time both the content and the organisation were down to Jane.

The previous year, she had invited us to a presentation by Regent Seven Seas Cruises, an American company who appear to be testing out the European market.

Although the all-inclusive package appeared expensive, it was actually very good value for money and so we signed up.

The itinerary included a flight out from Heathrow to Athens to meet the ship. Ports of call in the Adriatic included Santorini, Kotor, Split, Ravenna and Venice, and to complete the holiday we spent a further three days enjoying Venice before the return flight to Heathrow.

The cruise ship was quite small, having only 440 passengers, but fully equipped with the usual facilities. Being American-owned, the atmosphere was very relaxed; smart-casual was the order of the day with no formal dinners. All excursions were included in the basic cost.

The feature that makes a successful holiday like this one is the organisation Jane puts in with transfers en route, and the backup available from her and Travel Counsellors.
