Your Alvechurch correspondent is quite right, there is an alternative solution to bonfires and the distress that is caused: either pay for and use a “brown wheelie” or make a journey to the site provided – no great problem.
May I refer back to previous letters: your Cofton Hackett correspondent advised reporting bonfires to the district council, a seemingly good and right thing to do.
Unfortunately our district council does not acknowledge that a garden bonfire is causing a nuisance unless it occurs three or four times a week, a classic case of the “sloping shoulder syndrome”.
We can only hope that the letters you have published will have the desired result but somehow I doubt it.
