Aah, those were the days, when thousands of people – or revellers, as we always called them – would gather outside The Crown Inn, Withybed Green, and walk the streets noisily as part of Alvechurch Alight.

The magazine also carried lots of pictures from the other festival events, and a list of all the winners in the Craft and Produce show, including the Editor of the magazine for his prize carrots!

ALSO IN THE NEWS:

* More than 300 villagers signed a petition calling for action on “antisocial behaviour” in Alvechurch and urging a more visible police presence in the evenings.

It led to the formation of a Residents’ Action Group, which met with police and Bromsgrove council officials.

* A stalwart of village life said goodbye to return to his native United States.

Forest Hansen had been the parish footpaths officer and secretary to Alvechurch Village Society and still keeps up with life here via this website.
