Bonfire blues

-

At 6.30 this evening when I went upstairs to get my small children ready for bed I was greeted with that horribly familiar smell of bonfire smoke – except this was in their bedrooms.

Today has been the hottest day of the year so far and I, like many other parents, have struggled to keep my children’s bedrooms cool. Even with the windows open most of the day the temperature on their monitors was still reading 25 degrees, which is way too hot, especially for my baby. But now I have had to shut all the windows in the house because of the smell of smoke.

Why do people have to have bonfires so early in he evening? I’m not totally anti-bonfires but please, please, can you just have them much later when it is cooler?
