Fun & fundraising

-

The British weather was no barrier to a weekend of fun and fundraising when Burcot Grange hosted two highly successful summer events, enabling residents and friends to socialise and raise money for local charities.

On June 26, the peaceful grounds proved the perfect setting for a Ladies’ Pink Luncheon in aid of Cancer Research UK, organised in conjunction with Barnt Green’s Cancer Research Fundraising Committee.

As the showers gave way to sunshine, more than 100 guests enjoyed lunch in a marquee before taking part in the main raffle and raising £500. In addition, the beautiful pink orchid table arrangements donated by Fresh@Burcot Garden Centre were raffled, contributing to a grand total of £2,340 for the charity.

Christine Jenkins, Chairwoman of the Barnt Green Cancer Research Fundraising Committee, said: “This was the most successful event we have held in the past four years, and we owe so much of it to the team at Burcot Grange. I would also like to thank all the guests who supported the event.”

The next day, sunshine prevailed as Burcot Grange held its annual Traditional Afternoon Tea. This was a delightful opportunity for residents, their loved ones, and friends from the local community to get together – and as always, the event was also attended by old friends, relatives of previous residents, and frequent short-stay residents.

The guests were entertained by the Fret & Fiddle Jazz Band, and a raffle raised more than £500 for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
