Fashion, food and fun!

The catwalk show

When The Village magazine, together with Neil and Nicci Gow of Burcot Garden Centre, decided to put together a charity fashion evening in aid of the County Air Ambulance, none of us realised just how successful it would be – a success that’s down to the sheer number of local people who wanted to support us.

From the boutique owners who organised fashion shows to all the people who donated raffle prizes, everyone was keen to get involved, and the result was a fantastic evening of fashion, music, fine food and above all, fun.

With amazing sound and lighting thanks to Richard Green of Inside Out Events, the professional catwalk shows began with a selection of daywear from Joolz, followed by doggie fashions from Paws Here – the pooches were a huge hit, especially the one that (almost) got away!

Continental Collections then displayed beautiful occasionwear, with the models’ hairstyles created by Bliss Hair Therapy in front of the crowd.

Lickey & Blackwell’s Parish Poet (and former Poet Laureate for Birmingham), Giovanni Esposito – known to everyone as Spoz – was our compere for the evening, and also offered interval music as one half of popular duo Spoz & Dave.

Stuart Toogood of Occasional Guitars also played as visitors browsed the many stalls at which local businesses displayed their wares – lingerie by Temptations, handmade jewellery by Coconut Pink, aloe vera products by Forever Living, New Beauty Medical Cosmetics (who brought along a chocolate fountain!) and giftware from Joolz, Paws Here/It’s A Gift and Continental Collections.

Visitors enjoyed wine provided by Noble Rot (who also gave free glass hire), Indian canapes by Spice Trade, and a BBQ courtesy of Meadow Farm Butchers of Barnt Green.

Representing the Air Ambulance was Bob Chambers, a good friend of Neil and Nicci, who shared his own experience of being airlifted and explained why the service is so vital.

Further funds were raised by the raffle, with so many wonderful prizes, and donations from stallholders – as we went to press, the figure was already in excess of £2,000.

A massive thank you to:
