A new bench has been installed on the village green in Rowney Green, overlooking the memorial maple tree.
It replaces the old bench, which was more than 50 years old and looking tired and neglected.
The Rowney Green Association – a group dedicated to community interests – decided to buy the replacement using membership income, and it was installed by villagers Dean Croxton and Pete Jeffs.
RGA chairman Andrew May said: “Villagers may like to know that after 50 years of service, the old bench will continue in another venue – although it will be a bit shorter as we had to cut the planks to remove it.”
