I was interested to read a letter in December’s Village which rightly recommended “paying your gardener to do a proper job” of clearing up leaves.
I agree in principle, but the problem is that I simply can’t get the staff these days. You’d think that a little man from “down the hill” would be glad of two pounds an hour for some light gardening and labouring. But my last gardener wasn’t even prepared to steam-clean the decking, let alone dredge the main swimming pool and pick up the Labradoodles’ droppings.
Do other readers have this problem? I would be grateful for any advice.
