Pumpkin patch

The third annual Pumpkin Festival at Alvechurch Village Hall was another great success, despite atrocious weather!

More than 400 people visited, browsing the vast array of carved, decorated and home-grown pumpkins and craft items, and voting for their favourite. The winning entry (right) was grown by Sarah Courbet while Keith Yendell carved it and made and fitted the stained glass.

The café downstairs was so popular that the cakes ran out just before the end, and the children’s face painting and games were a hit.

The event raised around £1,400 for Papyrus (Prevention of Young Suicide) and the Village Hall.
