Car park plan ‘still a benefit’

A new parish car park at Rowney Green is still on the agenda, despite a change of heart by a youth football team which had inspired the idea in the first place.

Alvechurch Parish Council is considering building a 22-bay car park on the present site of its play area (pictured above) in Rowney Green.

The idea was in response to the notice from Alvechurch youth footballers that they were moving their matches from the Rowney Green playing fields to Bromsgrove because of a lack of parking.

Parish chairman Marc Worrall said: “Now they have come back wanting to use Rowney Green.”

But he added: “We have more facilities up there and I think they are under-utilised.

“I would still like to think that better parking facilities would be of benefit to the community.”
