The “Alvechurch Arise” community celebration, which began with the Palm Sunday procession through the village, continued with a series of events during Easter week.

On Maundy Thursday, Revd Fiona Lee from the Baptist Church led activities at The Lounge, including the painting of Easter-themed stones to be hidden and discovered around the village, hand and foot washing and the decoration of hearts, with soup and rolls provided.

On Good Friday a purple-clothed cross was brought to the village centre and erected, heralded by a solo-drummer. Revd Richard Bubbers from St Laurence Church led a short service in the precinct before hot cross buns and palm crosses were given out.

On Easter Sunday the purple on the cross was changed to white, and flowers put at its feet. Jane Lavery from St Mary’s RC Church led a time of praise before the children indulged in Easter-egg hunting.
