Prizes to be won in home contest

-

Alvechurch Village Society is encouraging residents to enter a Best-Dressed House competition on the theme of Pumpkins and Halloween.

Entry forms can be obtained by calling 0121 445 1683, emailing alvechurchsociety@outlook.com or collecting from the Parish Office or library.

Return by email or deposit in the boxes at the library or parish office no later than Friday October 26.

Judging takes place between October 29 and November 1, and there will be prizes for the winner and runner-up, who will be announced in December’s Village magazine.

*  To mark National Tree Week (November 24 to December 2), Lickey & Blackwell Parish Council is holding a children’s competition.

Entrants should draw or paint a picture of their favourite tree or write a poem about a tree on A4 paper, and put their name, age and phone number on the back.

Take completed entries to the Parish Office (Trinity Centre) by Friday November 23. There will be three winners in different age categories. Prizes will include a tree planted in their honour.

*  This year’s Oakalls Community Christmas gathering takes place on Sunday December 23 at 6.30pm, on the open grassed area by the notice board and Trianon Road.

Blackwell Concert Band will accompany the carols and there will be refreshments, sweets and a visit from Father Christmas.
