Spice Valley Balti in Bromsgrove raised more than £500 for the Stroke Association with a charity night of food and fun.
The Worcester Road restaurant was packed with guests, who were treated to live music on arrival courtesy of Blackwell singer Alicia Benbow’s mellow mix of easy listening jazz.
There followed a three-course dinner prepared by chef Muhammad Uddin, with local comedian Tristan Harris entertaining the audience during the dessert course.
Profit from ticket sales for the event totalled £248 and a further £235 was raised by a raffle. All the prizes had been donated by local businesses. With cash also collected in tins placed on each table, a total of £511 was raised.
Since electing to support the charity in October last year, Spice Valley Balti has raised nearly £800 for the Stroke Association. Staff hope to increase this to more than £1,000 soon with further initiatives planned.
Claire Pell, the Stroke Association’s community and events fundraiser, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the team at Spice Valley Balti for their continued support. With around 100,000 strokes a year in the UK it is vital that we have people who can raise funds for those affected by stroke.
“The money will go a long way in helping to support people in Worcestershire whose lives have been impacted by this devastating condition.”
Bromsgrove resident Euan Rose, who suffered a stroke in 2017 and has been supported by Bromsgrove’s Life After Stroke Centre, added: “The fundraising dinner was a unique and fun night where we enjoyed a sumptuous feast of Indian cuisine. I feel lucky to have been there.”
