Network Rail needs to address safety

Two things seem to be clear in respect of the footpath/footbridge/lifts problem with Network Rail:

If pedestrians are to be directed via Linthurst Newtown in Blackwell, it is clear that the bridge there is not fit for purpose, as it is not wide enough to carry an adequate footpath at the side of the carriageway.

This should have been taken in to account when the bridges were reconstructed recently.

Government clearly does have plenty of spare cash for railways, as evidenced by the cost of the HS2 vanity project.

Some of this should be used for existing safety issues or fulfilling “the promises they seemingly had no intention of honouring”, to quote Mr Bourne’s letter in the December issue of The Village.
