Busy Christmas for choir

Choir

Alvechurch Community Choir has planned a “Village Christmas”, performing in all sorts of locations in the run-up to the big day.

The choir recently sang at a Gala Concert (pictured) at the refurbished Alvechurch Baptist Church, the place where they first sang when they were founded.

The concert included some excellent songs from a new duo and quartet formed within the members. The choir will be back there again on December 19 at 11am, singing at the end of the Christmas Tree Festival.

Before that, you can catch them at plenty of other local venues. They start the festive season at Alvechurch Middle School PTA Craft Fair on November 28, in the early afternoon. Then there are four sessions at Barnt Green Tea Shop, for pre-booked groups.

On Monday December 14 it’s the main Alvechurch Carol Singing event in The Precinct, at 6pm – everyone is welcome go along to join in or just listen.

A smaller group from the choir will be visiting four community venues through December, with their main concert at The Lawns on December 11 for residents’ relatives and friends. They will be also be visiting the Christmas Tree Festival on the afternoon of Wednesday December 16.

This is the choir’s seventh Christmas together, and they go from strength to strength. They have even more members now, with a lot of new people joining during the year.

The choir is part of a charity called “Everybody Let’s Sing” which aims to bring music to the wider community, and is open to anyone regardless of ability.
