Alvechurch record-breaker Finlay Church was named the 2015 “Child of Courage” at the recent Pride of Birmingham Awards, in recognition of his superb fundraising efforts.
Eleven-year-old Finlay was nominated by Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour, and received the award in a star-studded ceremony at Birmingham Town Hall.
Finlay has been raising money for the hospital and for Brain Tumour Research with an array of events and challenges, including breaking the Guinness World Record for the most teddy bears in a line.
The latest event was the “Angels Without Wings” charity ball held at Bordesley Park, which raised £54,216 for Finlay’s charities via ticket sales, a raffle, a live auction and an online auction.
