The new footbridge at Barnt Green railway station is finally in place, although the old structure has yet to be removed (above).
The station car park was closed for two consecutive weekends while sections of the new bridge were craned into position.
Meanwhile, Linthurst Newtown in Blackwell has reopened after months of bridge work, and Network Rail project sponsor Richard Dugdale told The Village that the final stone finish and coping stones are to be installed without impediment to road or rail traffic.
He added that there would be no further closures of Blackwell Road, while Hewell Lane remains closed until the end of July.
* A misunderstanding by Worcestershire Highways almost left Blackwell residents trapped in their own village.
Signs appeared announcing the imminent closure of Station Road – while Linthurst Newtown was still shut.
New Lickey & Blackwell parish councillor Anna Boehm stepped in to point out the discrepancy, which occurred because Station Road was not the official diversionary route.
* Over at Alvechurch station, work to remove the mountain of soil left by the recent improvements and spread it over surrounding fields has begun (above).
Network Rail says that drainage and resurfacing of the car park (right, pictured in June), originally due to take place in spring, will now not start until the autumn.
