Hidden gem

-

Having just been into Alvechurch Library, joined and taken out a box full of books, I wonder how many other residents have missed this local jewel, just thinking that upon passing the building on Birmingham Road, Alvechurch, it was all purely the new Alvechurch Middle School.

It was incredibly easy to join (just bring proof of name and address), the staff are really helpful and they offer various clubs and support groups for writing, computers, CAB, photography, crafts, employment, junior reading, baby days and story times.

As well as “normal” books, they offer e-books, e-audio books, on-line catalogues and online reference books, CDs and DVDs.

You can renew books online, use the automatic machine on site or speak to real people to find what you need.

I have driven past so many times without realising it was there, so thought it worth a mention. If it wasn’t for the holiday clubs run by the middle school, I would still be in the dark.

Opening times are available at https://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/libraries, but simply it’s open every day except Wednesday, Sunday and Thursday mornings. Closed for lunch between 1 and 2pm.

Enjoy!
