Police link village burglaries

-

Police believe two burglaries in Barnt Green and Lickey End may be linked.

They happened in Fairlight Drive, Barnt Green, between 8.40am and 3pm, and in Staple Flat, Lickey End, between 3.20pm and 3.55pm, both on Monday 20 May.

The Barnt Green house backs onto woodland and offenders crawled under the fencing and removed glass from the patio door.

In the Lickey End burglary they unbolted a side gate to gain access to the rear garden and smashed a kitchen window. It is not yet been established what was stolen from either property.

Householders are reminded that most burglaries are carried out by opportunistic thieves who are looking for the easiest way of getting into a house without being seen or disturbed.

Advice on how measures residents can take to prevent burglaries is available on West Mercia Police’s website. www.westmercia.police.uk

It includes securing side gates, keeping hedges trimmed and low so they do not provide cover for burglars to break in, and property marking valuables.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000 quoting incident 523-s-200513 for the Barnt Green burglary or 151-n-200513 for the Lickey End burglary.

Alternatively ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
