THE VILLAGE VIEW

-

We have been berated for suggesting in our last issue that the voters of this area will always be blue – and have even been told that we helped June Griffiths to get elected as the county councillor for Alvechurch division by suggesting that the outcome was a foregone conclusion.

Well, it was a foregone conclusion and, as such, we’ve no idea how we could have influenced it.

Whatever, we welcome June as the representative at Worcester for a large chunk of our area and it’s been heartening to see her already attending Alvechurch Parish Council’s monthly meeting and sitting at the front of the Village Hall for the PACT public meeting last month.

As she is already a district councillor for the area and was a parish councillor until very recently, June should know what’s going on and be able to hit the ground running on our behalf.

Let’s just hope she figures out how to send an email before too long or it’s going to be difficult telling the officers at county hall – particularly those making decisions about our roads – what needs to be done.

AT LAST,  we’ve got The Village website off the drawing board and into the ether – just in time to keep villagers updated from day to day, and even hour to hour, with news of events surrounding The Red Lion pub in Alvechurch.

There’s no doubt that the ability to do this, as well as carry full-length reports and a wide range of pictures, makes the internet a vital part of our future.

But don’t worry, we love ink on paper and will continue to publish The Village in a physical form that can be touched, folded, cut out and stored in boxes for a long, long time to come.

The website is at https://www.villageonline.co.uk and you can even keep up with local happenings by following us @villagemagazine on Twitter.
