Lickey Hills wind turbine rejected

-

Plans for a wind turbine on the Lickey Hills have been rejected by Bromsgrove District Council.

The application by the residents of High House Farm prompted 20 letters of objection from local people.

Lickey and Blackwell Parish Council also objected: “As an ecologically aware parish council, we welcome efforts by our residents to reduce their carbon footprint. We note that this design is better for wildlife and is quieter than the propeller design.

“However, the site is in the Green Belt and in an Area of Great Landscape Value and so special care must be taken in the position of such a turbine. It may be that a smaller scale model would be more appropriate as this 10Kw unit seems designed for a commercial enterprise, small farm and the like, as opposed to a consumer requirement.”

Bromsgrove planners agreed, rejecting the application as being inappropriate development in the green belt and harming a protected landscape.

They also said: “No information has been provided to show that the development would not cause unacceptable levels of noise.”

Bromsgrove Planning Committee also rejected an application to create a “wildlife pond” at the Wadderton Centre on Greenhill, Blackwell, which would have entailed importing “substantial” amounts of earth.
