While putting out my washing on September 21 I heard a squawking noise from above and looked to the sky where I could see this bird that I have never seen in Alvechurch before. Not being an avid twitcher I could not instantly name it, but could make out that it was a bird of prey circling and squawking in intervals.
I felt was worth fetching my camera and trying, with minor success, to take a photo (below). I could see a total of four birds and watched for some time as these magnificent creatures soared effortlessly above me. I can only assume after identifying them via the internet that there is a family of buzzards near by.
I would be interested to know if other readers of your magazine have also witnessed these creatures in the skies of Alvechurch and whether they can identify them.
