I was disappointed, but not surprised to read the “knee-jerk” negative reactions to my letter. Your correspondents have clearly not read my proposal thoroughly, nor do they offer any alternative.
I have, however, become accustomed to ridicule. As students in the late fifties, we advocated the integration of the Birmingham Canal Network to enhance the city environment.
Similarly a proposal to pedestrianise Bromsgrove High Street was scorned!
Your initial challenge to inspire a constructive debate seems to have failed and we are destined to continue to re-organise deck-chairs on the Titanic!
