Hot meals going down a treat

Kids

Children at Tardebigge First School now have the option of a nutritious hot meal at lunchtime, in keeping with the school’s focus on a healthy lifestyle.

Provided by outside caterers Shire Services, the meals are cooked at Aston Fields Middle School and transported to Tardebigge, where they are served in the Community Hall. Children can still bring sandwiches if they prefer.

A three-week rolling menu is in operation, with two main courses offered every day plus a choice of accompaniments and desserts, which always include fresh salad and fresh fruit.

There has been a very positive response to the scheme, with a 50 per cent take-up so far.

And it’s not just the kids who benefit – the meals are also available to staff and to members of the community, such as the Sunshine Playgroup which uses the Community Hall.
