Treats for face & body

Maria and Fran show off the spacious new salon as client Kerri Franks waits for her nail treatment.

Harvey’s in Earlswood have even more to offer this season. . .

Already providing a wide range of health and beauty treatments from nail extensions to non-surgical face-lifts, Harvey’s are always on the look-out for new therapies and products to offer their customers.

One of the first centres locally to use the now-very-popular Aqua Detox system, Harvey’s are usually ahead of the game and this year is no exception. Manager Maria Hodgetts has brought in several extra treatments, including hair extensions in the all-new hair salon.

And this isn’t the only change – Maria’s daughter Louise, a co-founder of Harvey’s, has moved away, making room for Fran Mitchell and Sarah Gold to join the team with their own specialities.

Fran’s arrival means Harvey’s can offer holistic treatments such as reflexology, Indian Head Massage and even reiki, alongside existing therapies which cover all aspects of wellbeing from feeling healthy to looking gorgeous.

“We do Balmain Paris hair extensions, which can either add coloured highlights to your hair, or increase length and volume in a colour that matches your own,” says Maria. “The wax bonds that attach them are gentle and they can last for six to eight months.”

The extensions are available in virtually any colour, the “mad” ones being popular with youngsters, and Maria is particularly proud that the natural hair is obtained through a ‘fair trade’ scheme so that women selling their locks receive a fair price.

At the opposite end of the hair care service is the revolutionary hair removal machine, which Maria says can permanently eliminate facial hair after four sessions. “Unlike electrolysis, there are no painful needles – a special gel kills the hair at the root.”

And facial flaws can be a thing of the past with the new blemish remover machine, which treats the area with salicilic acid to actually close up spots painlessly.

Also new at Harvey’s is a pain relief programme using products from French company Baum St Michel, which contain a natural anaesthetic and analgesic. This is combined with acupressure massage and is particularly helpful for arthritic and sciatic pain – Maria says some of the results have been astonishing.

Results-wise, the Body Wraps have also been working wonders, one woman losing an incredible 28 inches. And Aqua Detox has been helping many people, in particular a toddler whose glue ear has been cured, meaning she won’t have to have an operation.

Detox Footpatches have now been developed, working like a sponge to soak up toxins from the soles of the feet while you sleep. “They’re good if you’re going away and can’t come in for your detox,” Maria points out. “And they make a great Christmas gift idea!”

Harvey’s are also offering a selection of “Winter Warmer” packages which would be perfect presents. The Body Beautiful package includes a body wrap or anti-cellulite treatment, a massage and St Tropez tanning.

The Hands & Feet package offers a pedicure, manicure and nail extensions, while if you choose Fantastic Face, you’ll receive a facial, eyebrow shape, eyelash tint and makeup application. Or you could go for the Detox or Holistic packages.

Aqua Detox parties are on offer too – get six to eight friends together and Maria will bring the machine to your home so everyone can have a go! The organiser will get their treatment free.

With Harvey’s gift vouchers providing another gift idea, the only problem might be deciding which treatment to choose . . .
