Retiring headteacher Norma Kift (left) hands over the keys to Crown Meadow First School in Alvechurch, to her successor, Janette Morris, watched by chair of governors Margaret Parry.

Mrs Kift has been at the school since 1988, and in charge for more than nine years, during which time the school has made great progress.

Ms Morris has been head at Fairfield First School, Bromsgrove, for the past five years, and will now be involved in the new schools project for Alvechurch.

Mrs Parry said: “Mrs Kift has done a marvellous job at Crown Meadow and we wish her well in retirement. Meanwhile, we are delighted to appoint Ms Morris to lead the school through the exciting challenges of creating and moving to a brand new school in the village.”
