Singing to Beat @ Longbridge Retirement Village

Singing to Beat, the group for people with dementia, Parkinson’s, MS and other neuro conditions (plus carers, friends and relatives) is now at the Longbridge Retirement Village (B45 8TD) every Weds from 11.30am–1pm.

Cost £3.50 for those from outside the village – all welcome. No previous experience necessary. More info from Ruth on 0121 453 6952.

Tardebigge church choir is seeking new recruits!

The choir, based at St Bartholomew’s (B60 3AH) is struggling with declining numbers due to age and health, but still sings in four parts at morning and evening services on Sundays, plus weddings and funerals.

They particularly need a bass or bass-baritone, but all parts are welcome!

Bromsgrove Music Centre (Severn Arts) provides a Wind and Brass Band and a String Ensemble for children in the Bromsgrove/Redditch areas (approx G1-3).

Mondays 6–7pm at St John’s Middle School, Bromsgrove. The first term is free!

The centre also provides individual instrumental lessons from 4.30–7.30pm.

Alvechurch Community Choir meets at 7.30pm on Mondays, usually in Alvechurch Village Hall though on the 2nd Monday each month they move to a different venue, usually Alvechurch Social Club. They have occasional pub singalongs too.

The choir is an open access singing group; new members of all abilities are welcome. It is part of a charity called Everybody Let’s Sing and is committed to bringing music to a wide community, including a regular choir it runs at The Lawns care home.

Bel Canto Singers… do you enjoy singing bright and lively pieces? Join in with a friendly group of mixed age singers. The music is a good variety (pop, retro, musical and popular classical), and the group’s aim is to produce a quality sound whilst supporting charity and community fund raising.

The singers meet on Mondays, 7.30–9.30pm, at St John The Evangelist Church, Greenlands Ave, Redditch B98 7PZ. The marvellous men would love more tenor and bass voices!

Barnt Green Choral Society starts rehearsals for the 2018-19 season on Mon Sep 3. It’s a non-audition choral society; new members always welcome.

This season they will perform three concerts; a Christmas Carol concert on Dec 15, the main Spring concert on March 23 (Chilcott’s Jubilate, Rutter’s Gloria, Stanford’s Te Deum and Macmillan’s Ecce Sacerdos Magnus) and a Summer concert on June 15 with the music of Gilbert and Sullivan.

If you are interested in joining, pop along to rehearsals at St Andrew’s Church Hall, Sandhills Road, Barnt Green on Mondays at 7.45pm.
