A look back at what was happening around here in February 2010.

A spell of wintry weather inspired our February 2010 cover shot, showing geese coming in to land on Lower Bittell reservoir in Barnt Green. Inside were some of your snowy pictures, plus a weddings special.

Bromsgrove MP Julie Kirkbride was to step down after an expenses scandal – and our readers’ letters suggested she had made the right decision. Elsewhere, 72 new homes were planned for the former schools site in Alvechurch, and the latest proposals for the golf course at Marlbrook Tip had come under fire.

*  Year 3 and 4 pupils at St Andrew’s First School in Barnt Green (including Christian Timms, Emma Taylor, Ella Timms and Jacob Rhodes, pictured with teacher Catherine Parchment) took part in a Roman Day as part of their topic on the era.

*  Bordesley nurse Jan Stevens, who had been chosen by the Government to set up and lead a national fight against MRSA, had been awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours List for her work in reducing the infection, as well as her overall contribution to nursing.
