A look back at what was happening around here in September 2009.

Bride-to-be Charlotte Matthews was on the cover of our September 2009 magazine, ahead of her “real wedding” that was part of the first Village Wedding Show at Hillscourt, Lickey. Full details of the event appeared inside.

IN THE NEWS:
Barnt Green Youth Parish Council was applying for funding for a teenage adventure trail in the village, while in Alvechurch, a group of mums had launched an initiative to find somewhere for teens to meet.

Lickey & Blackwell Parish Council was encouraging residents to go green with a “Dig for Victory” talk.

*  A series of falls had seen nine-year-old Max Battle, of Bordesley, and his two nans, Eileen Battle (left), of Alvechurch, and Carole Jones, of Cofton Hackett, all break their arms within the same fortnight.

*  Cofton Hackett schoolgirl Eve Hodgson appealed to Village readers to sponsor her charity walk. The 10-year-old was inspired to raise funds for the British Legion by her ex-serviceman grandad, 83-year-old Alex Monaghan.
