Rose Hill Flower Arrangement Society is having an enjoyably busy year. Some of the highlights of this year’s programme of monthly floral demonstrations have combined a variety of activities to add interest, promote membership and friendship, and to raise funds for RFAS and a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.
In May there was a memorable visit to Highgrove House with its historic atmospheric gardens, artefacts and stunning meadows ablaze with buttercups and other wild flowers. Their Royal Highnesses were not available for a chat!
June’s Celebration of the Rose competition was truly celebrated by some beautiful rose arrangement entries. Following her demonstration June is Busting Out All Over, the demonstrator of the day, Su Whale, judged and presented the cup to the delighted winner – Judy Hadley – and “Rose” prizes to the other worthy entries.
The annual Summer Luncheon took place in July. Prepared by Committee Members, diners enjoyed a salmon and strawberry lunch, followed by Sandra Gunner’s A Night at the Movies demonstration. A “50/50 sale” table provided an opportunity to sell any unwanted goods and raise funds. Members and RFAS both benefit from half the price of goods sold.
The September meeting will feature the “Bring a Friend for Free” scheme. The society hopes to build upon the success of last year’s event, which resulted in some new memberships.
The November and December meetings will celebrate Christmas, with Sandra Gunner’s November demonstration entitled All I want for Christmas, and renowned demonstrator Arnaud Metairie’s A Festive Christmas theme.
New friends are most welcome to attend any of the RFAS events. They meet on the second Monday of the month (except January) at The Trinity Centre, Old Birmingham Road, Lickey, B45 8ES, at 2pm.
