A look back at what was happening around here in July/August 2009.

Bromsgrove District Council had been “rapped” by the local government ombudsman over the way it approved plans for affordable homes in Hopwood.

Elsewhere, thousands of Minis from all over the world were expected to converge on Cofton Park to mark the car’s 50th birthday.

*  Withybed Green held its first festival in celebration of the hamlet and its people, starting at 4am to watch the sunrise and continuing with a picnic, a bread-making workshop, a photo exhibition, live music and poetry.

Crown Meadow First School pupils including five-year-olds Eloise Robbins and Leo Carrington Crooke processed around Alvechurch as part of a national walking bus event organised by road safety charity Brake.
