New homes will spoil Burcot’s beauty

-

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments in David Barton’s letter last month. I would like to add, “Democracy is a great thing – if only the authorities would use it more often!”

I and others are alarmed and saddened to learn (very late on) that a planning application has been put in to change the use of Fresh @ Burcot Garden Centre to eleven (or so) dwellings.

The fact that the land is in the Green Belt should be a major factor in its request for change of use. Village people are normally passionate when Green Belt is under threat, and quite rightly so.

Burcot Garden Centre also has a great many customers who want it to remain.

Most sadly, everything is all about “how much money” and I am sure the regrets will come later when Burcot residents find it has a knock-on effect and all the beauty of their tiny rural village is quickly swallowed by other landowners, big or small, who simply cannot wait to fill their pockets.
