Relief over road closure

-

Parish councillors in Alvechurch were relieved to learn that a planned closure of the A441 in Hopwood was “not as bad as it first seemed”.

A communication from the county council’s Highways department had indicated a closure between Longbridge island and Hopwood island, but county and district councillor Charlie Hotham reported that the “patching” work would probably only require one lane at a time to be closed, and would take place at night.

Clerk Tammy Williams said that it was “tricky” to get more information from Highways, as emails from them to the parish office cannot be replied to.
