New homes planned for village sites

-

Eleven new houses could be built on the site where Fresh@Burcot Garden Centre currently stands, if planning permission is granted. The development, which includes three homes described as “affordable”, would have one access point on Alcester Road and one on Pikes Pool Lane.

Some residents have voiced concerns about privacy, road safety and Green Belt development, while others say they would welcome extra housing.

Burcot is not part of a parish, but Lickey & Blackwell Parish Council made a statement expressing “sadness that residents will lose this business, and we have concerns regarding impact on the highway, in particular the access from Pikes Pool Lane.”

* An outline planning application to build 25 houses on Lye Meadow when the site is vacated by Alvechurch Football Club has been submitted.

The club plans to move to a new ground at The Hayes, between Hopwood and West Heath, which is due to be ready for the 2020–21 football season.

A meeting about the plans takes place at 7pm on Thursday April 18, at the clubhouse. All welcome.
