Recommendations from clients gave Home Instead Senior Care Redditch and Bromsgrove the accolade for a fourth year.

A village home care company has won an award based on the glowing recommendations it receives from its clients, their families and friends.

Home Instead Senior Care specialises in providing at-home care to the elderly, and has been named one of the West Midlands’ 20 most recommended providers as part of the Home Care Awards 2018.

The awards are based on nearly 10,000 genuine independent reviews left on the homecare.co.uk website, and this is the fourth year running that the Redditch and Bromsgrove office has taken one of the top spots.

The service was rated highly across all categories – including overall standard, staff, care and support, management, treating people with dignity, and value for money – and received an overall rating of 9.9 out of 10.

Annie Dixon-Dunn, owner of Home Instead Redditch and Bromsgrove, said: “We are thrilled to have been recognised as one of the 20 most recommended home care companies.

“These reviews are provided by the people who matter to us most – our clients and their loved ones – so it is wonderful to know they think so highly of us.

“People use websites like homecare.co.uk to help them choose the care that is best for them or their relatives, and we are so proud to be providing a service that people can trust and rely on.”

One of the reviews of Home Instead Redditch and Bromsgrove reads: “The overall service given by Home Instead is first class. Each member of the team ensures the safety, well-being and happiness of my mother.

“We are regularly updated with information about my mother’s condition and if any changes need to be implemented. The staff are always friendly and are always ready to go that extra mile if needed.”

Amanda Hopkins, review manager at homecare.co.uk, says home care providers that treat people with dignity and respect, and offer personalised care, “are vital in today’s society where people are living longer and with more complex conditions.

“They are also essential in enabling people to keep their independence and live in their own homes,” she said.

“Home Instead Senior Care has proved that it provides a high standard of care, and we’d like to congratulate it on being a top home care company. We feel it is a real achievement to be recognised for being one of the top 20 home care groups in the UK.”

Home Instead specialises in companionship-led care, with CAREGivers taking time to visit each new client in their own homes to make sure they receive a care solution that’s tailored to their individual needs.

Many of the team draw on their own personal experiences to encourage, assist, and stimulate clients over a wide range of activities that help improve their quality of life and maintain as much independence as possible.

Continuity of care is ensured by the fact that each client has their own small team of familiar CAREGivers – Home Instead will never send a stranger. This means CAREGivers really get the chance to know their clients and build real relationships.

“We feel that companionship-focused care is the way forward; not only does it mean our CAREGivers find their work highly rewarding but it also enables our clients to build confidence,” says Kerry Williams, the company’s Recruitment and Engagement Manager.

“Receiving care can be a daunting prospect, so we find that this continuity really helps with the transition. It is also a huge comfort for the families of the people we care for.”

Because Home Instead insists that all visits last a minimum of an hour, the client never feels rushed, and the CAREGivers themselves appreciate having the time to chat to their clients – this can be anything from discussing current affairs to reminiscing about the past, or even recording family history.

As well as companionship and conversation, the firm’s services include meal preparation, housekeeping and personal care.

“A lot of people have a preconception that care is focused solely on hygiene,” adds Kerry.

“However, we offer so much more than that. Personal care is a small part of our service, but we also support clients with things like shopping, getting to appointments and going out and about in the local community.”

CAREGivers can even help with the smallest of daily tasks, such as taking out rubbish, checking food expiry dates, supervising home maintenance, overseeing home deliveries, and caring for pets and houseplants.

Home Instead’s services can also include telecare support, liaising with health professionals and nutrition advice.

Based in Ullenhall, Home Instead Redditch and Bromsgrove covers a wide area from Cofton Hackett and Lickey End to Alvechurch and Barnt Green, as well as Rednal, Rubery, Northfield, Redditch, Studley and Alcester.
