The second Longbridge Light Festival was extremely well attended on a wonderfully clear evening, with lots to see and do.
The event began with a large procession, with people carrying lights and placards on the them of ‘Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter’ (from a quote by Martin Luther King).
This year’s light and art installations were themed around “The Shadow Factory” in tribute to Longbridge’s part in the Shadow Scheme of World War II.
There were installations celebrating the Austin Rover heritage, interactive activities such as the “Off the Radar” audio experience taking up one whole level of the multistorey car park, and a craft and food area.
Inside Bournville College there were practical activities for children, while The Gramophones performed classics from the 1940s, and visitors were invited to participate in “The Play Factory” with artist Samantha Williams and students from Bournville College.
