An Alvechurch institution for the best part of 40 years, David E Matthews Insurance Services is very much a traditional family business – and it’s now even more of a family affair as David’s twin brother John has joined the firm, offering private health insurance through his own company BMJ Healthcare Ltd.
Having worked for Britannic Assurance for 34 years and then BUPA for 10 years, John (pictured above left) decided to set up his own business providing independent advice on healthcare needs for individuals and companies, whether or not they have cover.
With David Matthews acting as the broker, John will be offering medical insurance, life and critical illness cover, income protection and international cover – and because he is independent, he is not constrained to offering just one product.
“I can now access a full range of products and source the most suitable one for each client,” he explains.
This new development is handy for existing clients, who can now arrange health insurance at the same time and place as they insure their home or car. John has already assisted several of David’s clients, and the brothers are looking to expand this new division.
John will be based at the Alvechurch premises two days a week, and will also continue the firm’s tradition of making personal visits to a client’s home or business. It’s this personalised service that has made the company a trusted part of the community, and the new addition will add further capability to the already highly experienced team.
“After all, John’s quite a bit older than me… half an hour in fact!” says David.
