Charity begins at school

Year 2 pupils

Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School was delighted to support Operation Christmas Child again this year, with children filling shoe boxes with gifts for underprivileged children around the world.

Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, and Bromsgrove Pre-Prep has been supporting it for a number of years.

The colourful pile of boxes that children in the School had collected and placed in the large hallway fireplace was collected, with all of the children in Year 2 helping to load up the van.

A total of 100 shoeboxes was collected from the school and these are now on their way to children in Romania and The Crimea.

* Bromsgrove School also held its third annual Foundation Lecture at The Lansdowne Club in London. The speaker was Dame Julia Cleverdon, Former Chief Executive of Business in the Community and Chair of Teach First, a powerful movement founded to directly address the problem of educational disadvantage.

She engaged with to the 115-strong audience and asked them to collectively rewind, pause and fast forward to reflect on what impact they have as a group and as individuals in society. The topic was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended, with some challenging questions put to Dame Julia at the end.

Dick Noake, Chairman of the Foundation, said: “Dame Julia was an inspiring speaker and a dynamic personality, both on and off stage.

“Our lectures have become a way of enabling us to engage our current and former parents, alumni and Friends of the School, whilst raising awareness of the Bromsgrove School Foundation and its main aim of helping children who could not otherwise afford to come to the School.

“We will be arranging many more of these types of events in the coming months. If we have lost touch with anyone connected to the School and they would now like to hear from us again, please contact 01527 579679 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
