Pre-school choices

-

Many readers may know that a well-equipped pre-school nursery has opened on the new school site in Alvechurch but I would like to draw the attention of local parents to the existence of a number of other very high quality pre-schools in the village.

My experience is of the lovely and experienced team of staff who cared for my two children at Alvechurch & Bordesley Nursery School in the Baptist Church Hall.  My younger left them this summer to start school.

This nursery school was recently judged by Ofsted to be “Outstanding” in every available category. It is unusual to find a pre-school getting such consistently excellent results and yet here is one on our doorstep.

It would be very sad if this excellent pre-school and the others in the village were overlooked due to the establishment of the new nursery at the school.

It is important to note that a parent’s choice of pre-school has no impact on whether the child gets a place in Reception at Crown Meadow and that government funding is available at all of the local pre-schools.

In addition, all of the pre-schools have established strong links with local schools so that children have a smooth transition into Reception when the time comes.

Each of the different pre-schools, including the school nursery, will have different strengths but I would urge parents to look into all the options, including reading the Ofsted reports, before making a final decision.
