Pump Cottage

Some of the local gardens opening their doors for charity.

Here is a beautiful view of the natural pool in Barry Knee’s garden at Pump Cottage, Weatheroak, which opened under the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) on three dates in June.

Barry has created a charming plantsman’s garden with meandering paths, water features and a romantic area, plus a boardwalk and wildlife area.

The garden is continually being developed with new features.

Last year Marlbrook Gardens, opening under the NGS, raised over £5,000 for charity, and the owners of the three gardens hope to beat that figure in 2008.

More than 350 people visited during the first two of their four open days, and the final date on September 6 should attract plenty more.

The gardens, on Braces Lane and Old Birmingham Road, will open from 6.30–10pm, under natural light until dusk and then floodlight.

Entry £5 (includes a drink); food available.

More info at https://www.marlbrookgardens.com or follow the yellow NGS signs on the day.
