The trust that owns the shopping precinct in the centre of Alvechurch says it would welcome ideas from residents on ways to improve the site.
The precinct was labelled an “eyesore” by one villager in the summer after she witnessed the reaction of a group of Scandinavian visitors on seeing the “sorry sight”.
The Bernard Piggott Charitable Trust has told The Village that trustees are “equally concerned to secure improvements to the appearance of The Square”.
Trustee Derek Lea, in a letter to The Village, points out that in 2001 the trust attempted to reach agreement with Alvechurch Parish Council on a scheme to improve and maintain the precinct, but their offer was not taken up by the council.
The trustees’ agents were now putting together a fresh scheme for the precinct and “would certainly appreciate any constructive suggestions which residents may wish to put forward to them”.
